Founder note: It started as a dream two years ago. We saw incredible running backpacks already out there — but none that captured the Stolt point of view. Our design philosophy has always been simple: streamlined, functional, and made for running. Rooted in Scandinavian minimalism, every detail has a purpose.
We’re thrilled to introduce the Stolt Athlete Ultralight Hydration Running Backpack – our purest expression of a running backpack. Designed to move seamlessly between fast commutes and weekend trails, it carries the unmistakable Stolt design language — clean lines, balanced proportions, and total functionality.
It starts with fabrication
Everything begins with the material. We chose a subtle two-tone ballistic nylon that’s both lightweight and abrasion-resistant, finished with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating for all-weather performance. The fabric feels refined — built for endurance, yet undeniably premium.
At the front, super-soft four-way stretch Lycra provides flexibility for the water bottle pockets. Inside, the zipped pockets are lined with a water-resistant fabric to keep your valuables — and your phone — dry when the weather turns.
Fit and functionality made for running
The backpack features side compression straps for adjustability and fit.
At the front, it has two chest straps and a waist strap, which can be rolled away when not needed. The front pockets are designed to carry two 500ml water bottles. It also includes two stash pockets and two zipped pockets with DWR lining. The backpack fits most frame sizes from Small to Large.
This is a roll-top design, allowing for size adjustability with a maximum capacity of 12 litres. It comfortably packs a change of clothes and daily essentials, a laptop or a hydration bladder — sometimes even spare shoes. If you need a larger capacity or plan to carry a laptop bigger than 13”, consider the original Athlete backpack instead.
From commutes to trails
Inside the backpack, you’ll find a separate sleeve that allows you to carry either a hydration bladder for trails or a small laptop (up to 13”) for commutes. The sleeve sits closest to your back to ensure stability and a secure carry.
